about me
Hi, I’m Jo (Jiyun 지윤), founder of Oakai Wellness.
I’m a Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) with a nervous system–informed approach rooted in behavior change, mindfulness, and polyvagal-informed principles.
Much of my work centers around supporting immigrants and people from immigrant/multi-cultural families who feel stuck in patterns shaped by their upbringing and cultural expectations — a direct result of my lived experience as a second-generation Korean American. I grew up (and, to this day, still am) living through the complexity of navigating identity, heritage-centered responsibility, and belonging. These experiences continue to shape the way I approach wellbeing work today.
Professionally, my background includes digital health coaching focused on sustainable behavior change in areas such as nutrition, movement, stress management, and lifestyle habits. Over time, my work evolved toward a more nervous system–informed approach after seeing how difficult it can be to sustain change from an authentic place when we are disconnected from our internal state.
Today, OAKAI Wellness exists as a space for culturally attuned wellbeing support — offering 1:1 and group coaching, workshops, educational & wellness experiences, and community-centered spaces that help people reconnect with themselves in a way that feels fully their own.
